CIVIL engineering firm North Midland Construction has secured a £1.7 million contract to carry out various road improvements in the Weavers’ Triangle.
NMC will be carrying out alterations to Barracks Roundabout to increase the number of traffic lanes and also to add new traffic signals.
The company will also be resurfacing Trafalgar Street as well as upgrading the existing footpaths to create an attractive, accessible and safe pedestrian surface that can also accommodate all types of heavy vehicles.
In addition, NMC will install a new puffin pedestrian crossing on Queens Lancashire Way.
Geoff Poyzer, managing director of North Midland’s highways and utilities division, said: “We are looking forward to delivering this scheme and being part of Burnley’s future.
“Our vast experience in delivering projects of this nature will ensure that we minimise disruption whilst also supporting the council’s objective of creating opportunities, improving safety and gaining more prosperity for the local area.”
