POLICE are growing ‘increasingly concerned’ for the welfare of an Accrington man who has been missing for a week.

The search for Trevor Whitehead, 50, has now entered its second week with police officers, the police helicopter, and teams from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue searching the Accrington area every day.

The alarm was raised last week when Mr Whitehead failed to turn up for work for three days.

A concerned co-worker contac-ted a family member, who report-ed him missing to the police.

Mr Whitehead was last seen in the town on the evening of Wednesday, April 9.

He is described as white, around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, with a fair complexion and short grey hair.

The police have said that when he was last seen he was wearing either a red waterproof jacket, or a German camouflage jacket, and green wellington boots. He may be in possession of a ground sheet.

Comments have already start-ed to be left by concerned friends on Accrington Police’s Facebook page.
