THE second-in-command at the Treasury will be embarking on a whistle-stop tour of Burnley and Pendle tomorrow.

Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, will initially tour Northlight, the new name for Brierfield Mill, which is the subject of a £25million homes, leisure and business complex vision.

He will meet borough council chief executive Stephen Barnes, cabinet member Coun Paul White, deputy council leader Coun John David and Tim Webber, from Barnfield Construction, for the visit.

Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle will join his Liberal Democrat colleague for four stops in the Burnley area, beginning with Heasandford Primary School, to discuss the government’s pupil premium.

Then the delegates will depart for Burnley General Hospital, to inspect the new urgent care centre, before leaving for two appointments with local businesses.

The first will be at Billington Road based Velocity Composites, followed by Boohoo.com, at Widow Hill Road, which the Lancashire Telegraph revealed in February was going to bring 360 jobs to the borough.
