A CARE home has been praised for reducing the number of young people who go missing.

The home, which is privately run for Lancashire County Council, was said to have made recent improvements.

Ofsted said the unit, which is in a protected and unnamed location, could however improve education plans and systems regrading health.

Inspector Anthony Kyem said “Young people's complaints and concerns are investigated and their wishes and feelings are acted upon.

“The frequency with which young people go missing is minimised and, where applicable, has reduced.

“Young people's views about the home and their relationships with staff are consistently positive.”

Social workers also told Ofsted that they considered the home ‘safe and consistent’ creating ‘good working relations’.

Mr Kyem added however: “Young people who are new to the home do not benefit from personal education plans to promote their educational progress.”
