WORK has started on resurfacing a ‘rotten road’ in Barnoldswick after five years of campaigning.
Kirkstall Drive, which serves the busy Coates Lane Primary School, is being fully relaid.
Coun Lindsay Gaskell said: “This work is very welcome. It’s been a rotten road for several years and we’ve repeatedly asked for repairs.
“Until now, the road has just been patched up, leaving a pattern of patches and puddles splashing parents and pupils on the way to and from school.
“In the end, it’s got so bad that the county council has had to add it to the full resurfacing jobs.
“It’s a few weeks earlier than I was expecting. I thought they were going to do it in the school holidays.
“But despite the disruption, it’s a huge improvement on the rotten road that it was.”
