PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed the continued rise in people using Pendle’s train services.
Latest figures released have shown an increase of four per cent in the number of people using railway services in Pendle in 2013. During the year Pendle’s train stations saw 266,606 journeys. This included 139,000 people using the new Nelson Interchange, representing a 38 per cent increase since 2010, and 35,000 used Brierfield station, a 70 per cent surge in usage.
Mr Stephenson said: “The latest figures are great news for public transport in Pendle.
“With the reopening of the Todmorden Curve soon thanks to investment from the Government and faster services to Manchester, it is encouraging to see the number of people using local rail services continuing to rise.”
