1:54pm Thursday 6th March 2014 in News
HOUSING campaign group Lidgett and Beyond has submitted its response to Pendle Council’s draft Core Strategy.
The group, which is campaigning against housing developments on land known as the Rough, in Colne, said it broadly supports the strategy.
Of the group’s 536 strong membership, 493 people submitted letters.
Owen Oliver, Lidgett and Beyond’s chairman, said: “We are delighted to have received such a huge response to our submission on Pendle’s draft Core Strategy.
“People clearly recognise that the beauty of Pendle must be protected, even as we push for economic growth.”
The group is keen to see the boundaries of the Lidgett Conservation Area redrawn to include Favordale.
Sarah Cockburn-Price, the group’s secretary, said: “L&B believes that the co-location of housing, employment and services must be paramount with all sustainable planning.
“Overall, we believe the draft Core Strategy to be sound, but with a few caveats.
“Our membership is now nudging 600 and most of those took the time to back our submission to the council.”
