Children’s charity, Child Action Northwest is offering the opportunity for runners to join 40,000 people for Europe's biggest 10k running event on Sunday, May 18.

There are a final few places remaining for the Bupa Manchester 10k event which is broadcast live on BBC TV.

The fundraising team at Child Action Northwest are offering these to participants who are confident that they can raise a minimum sponsorship of £150. For the first time, this year the organisation will have a presence in the charity village where volunteers will be meeting the runners who have completed the course with refreshments.

Massage will be provided for weary legs by sponsoring company, Total Sports Rehabilitation who responded to an earlier appeal.

Martin Hartley Smith, business development manager at the charity is running this year.

He said: “Every year more and more people join us for this great event. We are looking forward to an exciting day.”

The Bupa Manchester 10k is part of a weekend of running in the city which includes the Bupa Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run and the Great City Games Manchester.
