Briercliffe nursery hits back at Ofsted report
12:21pm Friday 28th February 2014 in News
A BRIERCLIFFE nursery has hit back at a critical Ofsted report.
In a report last week, the education watchdog said Jack and Jill Pre-School, based at Briercliffe Community Centre, in Jubilee Street, was ‘inadequate’ and failed to meet legal requirements.
But nursery leader Debbie Macken said the judgement was ‘unfair’ and that the school had appealed the grading.
But Mrs Macken said: “Straight after the Ofsted inspection we sent them a letter about what we were doing to tackle each point they made.
“Our life is the nursery. The members of staff are there when they shouldn’t be there, working hard to improve.
“We have sent an appeal in against the report.
“We were doing the paperwork the way we should have but we were using a different form.
“It is being sorted now. When Ofsted spoke to parents, they were all happy with what we do.
“We were doing everything we should be doing, we just need to update the paperwork.
“We close at 12pm but we’re all staying behind to do all we can to get it back up to standard.”
