STAFF from online fashion retailer Boohoo.com have donated £500 towards an appeal to buy life-changing medical equipment for two Burnley brothers.

Noah McGibbon, eight, plays for Sycamore Juniors Football Club, and the team’s coaches launched an appeal last year to buy an airway clearance physio vest for him and his brother Jayden, three, who both suffer from cystic fibrosis.

The vest, which costs around £7,000, reduces the need for intensive daily physiotherapy.

As a result of this, it would give the boys and their parents a much better quality of life.

The fundraisers now have around £2,500 in the bank, and have several more fundraising events planned.

Boohoo.com got involved in the appeal after entering a team into a charity football tourna-ment for the boys.

Twelve teams took part in the contest, which was won by Globe FC from Blackburn. Boohoo.

com’s warehouse staff raised £250, and company managers matched their donation.

The tournament brought in £764 from the other teams.

David White, from the football club, has been one of the main organisers of the fundraising drive and was delighted with the amount raised for the boys.

He said: “We’re overwhelmed.

“We didn’t ask them to donate anything.

“We’ve got around £2,500 in the bank already, and more money waiting to come in. It’s going better than we thought it would.”

David said a sponsored walk from Accrington Stanley to Burnley FC in fancy dress had already raised £1,400, and a psychic night brought in £400 for the fund.

The Noah and Jayden Fund’s next event will be a charity night featuring a raffle, auction and entertainment, at the Railway Club in Rosegrove on March 29, starting at 7pm.

Tickets, costing £5 each, are available from the club.
