HEALTH workers want the county’s residents to realise the importance of taking care of their hearts.
February is National Heart Month, and medics at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said being aware of dangers such as smoking, drinking, high blood pressure and stress is vitally important while regular exercise is crucial.
James Fazackerley, a healthy lifestyles advisor, said: “The heart needs looking after in order to survive longer.
“People of all ages who are physically active are less likely to get cardiovascular disease as those who are inactive and it doesn’t have to be strenuous.
“Building regular physical activity into your routine such as walking, swimming or activities at your local sports centre can make a huge difference to the way you feel.
“It’s so important to recognise just how vital our heart is and the things we can do to look after it.
“A healthy diet can help reduce your risk of gaining weight which can result in diabetes and high blood pressure.”
