SOCCER starlets from across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale are expected to enjoy a whole new ball game tonight and into tomorrow — in Lancashire’s Anglican HQ.
Young churchgoers from across East Lancashire will descend on Blackburn Cathedral, which will become a youth haven for the next 48 hours.
And the historic venue’s windows will be protected as the football is played inside a specially-designed cage.
The Diocesan Board of Education is behind the event, entitled ‘Sanctuary: Love Never Ends’, and other activities include an adult-sized bouncy castle, arts and crafts, film-making, dancing and music.
The young people will be entertained from 7.30pm until breakfast, when the gathering breaks up after a final act of worship.
Kat Witham, diocesan youth officer, said: “We held a similar event last October and it was a great success. But we wanted to go one better and that’s why we organised this ‘Sanctuary’ evening.”
