Sport Relief: Davina McCall takes break in East Lancashire
12:00pm Wednesday 12th February 2014 in News
TV favourite Davina McCall took a break from her gruelling charity triathlon by stopping off in East Lancashire.
The 46-year-old former Big Brother presenter’s seven-day ordeal will see her attempt to run, swim, and cycle more than 500 miles from Edinburgh to London for Sport Relief.
Davina was forced to reassure her worried fans she was ‘fine’, after her limp body was pulled from the chilly waters of Lake Windermere on Monday.
She told a crowd: “I’m completely fine, I was just cold! I’ve warmed up now, I’ve had a nice bath and I’m ready to get on the bike.”
Davina then jumped on her bike and began the 65-mile journey to Accrington. She stayed at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, before continuing her journey south via Bacup yesterday morning.
The event, Beyond Breaking Point, has been demanding of the star since she set off on Saturday.
She displayed signs of hypothermia during a 14-hour, 130-mile cycle to Keswick, during which she faced winds of 70mph.
All the ups and downs of Davina’s challenge will be captured for a BBC documentary, to be broadcast in the run up to Sport Relief Weekend, which is taking place from Friday, March 21 to Sunday, March 23.
