PLANS have been unveiled for 37 canalside homes as part of the latest proposals for a marina close to the Burnley and Pendle border.

Last year the discount shop at Barden Mill relocated to Pendle Village Mill at Brierfield as part of a retail merger.

And now Reedley Marina boss Jason Fildes has put forward ambitious proposals to redevelop the site — and offer waterside living to more permanent residents.

An apartment block featuring 16 properties would sit alongside 12 three-bedroom two-storey homes. And another nine three-storey houses, three and four bedroom, would also be constructed on the banks of the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

His agents, the Campbell Driver Partnership, have submitted a masterplan showing the housing arranged around a central road.

A spokesman for the agents said: “The proposal is to create an exclusive residential development which is an integral part of the marina community, also including the Kingfisher Café Bar facility.”

The new tenants would be given access to the 26.5 acres associated with the marina, including the communal gardens there, and a new amenity garden would also be created to the north of the proposed housing.

“We feel it is one of the unique selling points of the this development — that residents will be surrounded by green fields and trees, plus have access to so much open space in which to enjoy the great outdoors,” added the spokesman.
