Colne pavement parkers get police warning

Burnley and Pendle Citizen: Colne pavement parkers get police warning Colne pavement parkers get police warning

MOTORISTS who park their vehicles on pavements and grass verges on the North Valley estate in Colne, are to be the subject of a police crackdown.

A Colne and West Craven police spokesman said: “We are warning people after a number of grass verges within the estate have been torn up by vehicles.

“The recent wet and prolonged cold weather has not helped matters.

“Initially the Neighbourhood Policing Team will speak with and warn drivers in relation of their activities. “As from the week commencing Monday, February 10, PC Walker will prosecute any offenders in relation to this activity.

“This will be for the offences of criminal damage, or, if found parking on the footpaths, action will be taken in relation to wilful or unnecessary obstruction.

“Residents of the estate must agree that this current activity is making the estate appear really neglected and untidy.”

yes big crime this. jeez if the police have time to do this how come it took the nearly a month to arrest 5 people who attacked my daughter in colne, nice to see the police taking a bit of grass verge that has a car wheel parked on it more seriously.

Perhaps PC Walker or some of his colleagues would like to try pushing a pram or riding a mobility scooter along Keighley Road Colne, then play the game of dodging out onto the main road avoding fast moving traffic as you negotiate the cars and vans all over the pavement. No grass damage but what about flesh and bones.

So everybody park on the road and not on the pavement or grass verges. stop the traffic from getting through. the next the boffins will want to put down DD yellow lines because all the motorists will be complaining the roads are blocked. the residents will complain that they have nowhere to park. talk about the dog chasing its tail.
why not do away with the grass verges save money having to cut them. this widens the road leaving a nice narrow pathway for people to walk on push a pram or wheelchair and the traffic can motor on.
PS what a waste of Police time this idea wouldn't be about putting coppers into Police funds would it???????????
