BOSSES at Pendle manufacturer acdc believe the firm has ‘a bright future’ after it announced the creation of its North American arm.

The Barrowford-based lighting company, which has worked on projects including London’s Olympic Bridges, will launch acdc Corp in Baltimore later this month.

The new operation will be overseen by Veit Mueller, former president of global lighting giants Selux Corp.

Acdc chief executive Gareth Frankland said the expansion was necessary to focus on the specific needs of American and Canadian customers.

He said: “Today’s announcement forms part of our continuing growth strategy. There is absolutely no doubt about the importance of the North American marketplace in terms of domestic and international lighting specifications and projects.

"We are hugely excited about the opportunities this market offers and are absolutely committed to delivering an exc- eptional level of service to the region, coupled with our innovative and revolutionary portfolio of architectural LED luminaries.”

Mr Mueller said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the North American lighting community by making the first-class ACDC products and service directly available. An extremely dedicated team, a very fresh approach to looking at challenges and many years of experience combining the strength of European and American teams will be an ideal basis for this expansion of acdc.”

As well as the firm’s head office in Riverside Way, Barrowford, it also has a demonstration studio in central London and an office in Dubai.

It won Business of the Year at the 2013 Lancashire Telegraph business Awards and the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2012.

Cllr James Keith Starkie says...

Our hearty congratulations to all at acdc on another remarkable achievement. This is exactly what our Pendle Marketing Initiative is designed to highlight; a local company which has done fantastically well. We should all be proud of their success and hope that they are equally proud to be based in Pendle.
