NUT union leader welcomes plans to teach about Holocaust

A UNION leader has welcomed news of a scheme to teach children about the Holocaust.
Lancashire’s and Blackburn with Darwen NUT representative Simon Jones said he was pleased to hear of plans to highlight the lessons of the tragedy.
The NUT announced on Holocaust Memorial Day that it would be in partnership with the the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Mr Jones said: “On Holocaust Memorial Day the NUT commemorates the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. It is crucial to recognise the enormous harm that hatred and intolerance can do to communities and societies.
“Learning about all aspects of the Holocaust is central to developing an understanding of the prejudices which continue to burden societies across the globe.”
