A MAJOR probe has been launched after around £100,000 of specialist car parts and a limited-edition vehicle were stolen from a garage in Padiham.

CCTV footage of a number of suspects has been released after a weekend raid took place on a warehouse belonging to Padiham Mini, Thompson Street.

Burglars walked through the insecure rear gates at the compound overnight on Saturday and Sunday and climbed onto a roof before smashing an office window to get inside.

Police say that the warehouse was thoroughly searched - with particular rooms and even units targetted - before they left via roller shutters operated from inside the premises.

Stolen property identified so far includes a special edition W-registration green Mini Cooper, engine parts, cash, clothing and memorabilia but a full stock-take was still underway last night.

PC Chris Hutchinson said: “This is a high value burglary which has left the company distraught.”

The officer believes that the intruders used a black Vauxhall Caddy van in the burglary to remove some of the ‘heavy and bulky tools’ taken.

Four men are thought to be involved - though two are believed to have remained in the van.

He added: “This was clearly a carefully planned burglary in which the shop has literally been emptied of almost all stock and this crime will have a long time to commit.”

Eyewitnesses or anyone who has been offered Mini accessories in the East Lancashire area are being asked to contact Pc Hutchinson on 01282 472120.

Gates not secured, no burglar alarm, roller shutter door not secured and £100k losses claim. Not to mention the poor quality descriptions, all round.
Am I alone in thinking that something isn't quite right here?

Mini Cooper S, in British Racing Green with a White roof and two white stripes on the bonnet panel. There are none of the usual badges on the rear. It has extended wheel arches with low profile alloy wheels, fitted. The interior is red leather with an aluminium facia/dashboard. The Reg No is W272 XBV.

Hmmm So the LET and it's infamous lazy journalism strikes again....

"The intruders used a black Vauxhall Caddy van" Yet they print a picture of the van which is made by Volkswagen!!!!
Padiham Mini on Thompson Street?? Never heard of it!!! Yet the headline says Mini Sport.....
"£100K car part raid" yet "a full stock-take was still underway last night"!!!

Makes you wonder what other "facts" in this article are correct?!?!

Insecure rear gates?? I doubt that, if there is high value stock inside...

And as for some of the comments, I doubt very much that there was no burglar alarm, maybe they were professionals and it was by-passed somehow!! Does this article also state that the roller shutter door was not secured or "operated from inside"??

Haha. Your defence of LET being called lazy is "In fact if you read the Padiham Burnley Police Facebook thats the LET has found it facts.. and that is were they are wrong!"

I stand corrected..... Investigative journalism = trawling Facebook posts not actually garnering their own facts to print?!?!
