A TAKEAWAY owner in Burnley has been fined for operating without a late night licence.

Council officers witnessed Samino’s, in Nairne Street, open for business after 11pm on numerous occasions.

Bosses ignored advice from the council to close on time or get a proper licence.

Naeem Chaudhry, owner of Saminos, admitted breaching licensing regulations at Burnley Magistrates Court. He was fined £525 with £200 court costs.

Council licensing officer John Yardley said after the case: “The vast majority of our late night takeaways are licensed.

“In this case we wrote to Mr Chaudhry on two occasions informing him of the law and offering advice on how to apply for a licence. Unfortunately he fell foul of the law by not complying with requests.

“Takeaways can impact on the quality of life for persons living nearby. We will continue to monitor late night premises which choose to remain open without a licence.”
