THREE women from Chorley were fined after pleading guilty to benefit frauds totalling more than £15,000.

In the three separate prosecutions, each defendant failed to report that they had a partner living with them.

Kristine Thompson, 36, of Crosse Hall Lane, Chorley, falsely claimed more than £7,000 from Chorley Council in housing benefit, and council tax benefit.

Hayley Beanland, 25, of Acresfield, falsely claimed more than £4,000 from Chorley Council, and the DWP.

The cash was claimed in income support, housing benefit, and council tax benefit.

Nickey Cole, 23, of Banastre, Astley Village, falsely claimed almost £4,000 from Chorley Council, and DWP.

Each of the cases was heard separately, and each defendant was fined £70, and ordered to pay £50 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Cole has repaid the money she was overpaid, and arrangements have been made for Thompson and Beanland to pay back what they owe.
