A ‘DRUNK’ man was taken to hospital this morning after falling 20ft from a bridge in Barrowford.
Fire crews were called to the scene near the Old Bridge Inn, in Gisburn Road, as paramedics struggled to reach the man, thought to be in his 40s.
He had fallen on to the Pendle Water embankment.
Nelson firefighters were able to rescue him using ropes and found the man to be conscious.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital to be checked for head and spinal injuries.
They said he had been with some friends who alerted the emergency services.
The incident happened at about 1am. It is not known how he fell.
