A WOULD-BE robber struck at an off-licence in Barrowford.

One man with his face covered burst into Maguires Off Licence, in Gisburn Road, at around 7.30pm last night.

A police spokesperson said: “A man went in and threatened a female shop worker. It does not like look they got away with anything.”

One witness said she saw police cars with their lights flashing parked outside the off-licence, and officers protecting the scene, shortly after the attempted robbery.

Anybody with information about the incident can call police on 101.
