A DRIVER asked to move a car blocking the road almost hit a house, Burnley magistrates heard.

The court was told Brent Lee Doney, 26, turned out to be more than twice the legal limit after the incident on Hargreaves Street, Colne, last December 29. He had no licence and was not insured either.

Doney, of Briercliffe Avenue, Colne, admitted driving with excess alcohol, driving otherwise than in accordance and no insurance. The hearing was told he gave a test showing 85 micrograms of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The defendant, who works for Sovereign Windows, had been to rehabilitation for drink issues, but had fallen off the wagon at the time. He was now said to be back on it again, was boxing training and was due to take part in a bout at Colne Municipal Hall later in the year.

Doney was fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned from driving for 22 months.
