LANCASHIRE charity shops are expecting a January influx of unwanted weight loss DVDs.

Volunteers with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) said they ranked as the most unpopular Christmas gift annually.

The charity said 59per cent of people in the region receive at least one gift they don’t want every Christmas.

BHF shops in Blackburn, Burnley, and Nelson, have now launched their annual Unwanted Christmas Gifts Appeal.

Celebrity weight loss DVDs are top of their ‘unwanted charts’, followed by the onesie, and the Christmas jumper ranking third.

Other unwanted items include celebrity cook books, and socks.

The main culprits for giving unwanted Christmas gifts were highlighted as grandparents, followed by mums, then partners.

North West regional manager Debbie Boylen, said: “People often receive perfectly good gifts that are just not to their taste, the wrong size, or even two of the same gifts.

“We encourage people to donate these items to our shops, so unwanted Christmas gifts can help in the fight against heart disease.”
