Burnley and Pendle Citizen: Burnley woman offers free Christmas dinner Burnley woman offers free Christmas dinner

A KIND-hearted Burnley woman is collecting Christmas dinner items to donate to local people who are struggling to pay for Christmas.

Viki Brown said: “I have a friend who works on foodbanks so I figured perhaps we can provide a full Christmas dinner from crackers, cheese, starters right through the entire ingredients – meats and so on, and let’s not forget a bottle of wine.

“We have had people nominated who have fallen on hard times – one family has fallen through the benefit net as they have always worked and now they are having to wait until it is sorted out.

“The stories go on, it’s really very sad.

“It’s the second time I’ve helped out: Two years ago there was a young woman with two children who ended up homeless.

“She secured a council house two weeks to Christmas but didn’t have a stick of furniture, let alone treats for Christmas.

“Within a week we we had kitted her home out top to bottom with everything she needed, and plenty besides.”

Does it excite you to sneer at someone who is trying to help people who have little? Why don't you try to be a decent person and show a little humanity?

Or is that asking too much of you?
