A VIOLENT schizophrenic launched ‘totally unprovoked’ attacks on his brother and terrified ex-partner after accusing him of sleeping with her, a court was told.

Andrew Jackson, 27, who was not long out of jail and was on licence, grabbed Emma South, slammed her against a door, allegedly threw a glass at her, pinned her against the wall and hurled her on a sofa.

He then punched his brother Christopher in the face during the angry and sustained outburst at their sister’s home, Burnley magistrates heard.

The hearing was told the incident ended after Samantha Jackson intervened and told Jackson, who has been staying at her property, to get out.

Jackson has a record for violence and drugs and, in 2005, was sent to a Young Offenders Institution for five years for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The defendant, of Rock Street, Haslingden, admitted two counts of assault, possessing cannabis and £130 criminal damage on December 2.

A trial over the facts will be heard to decide if Jackson threw the glass, as the prosecution did not accept the basis of his plea and the bench said it would make a difference to sentence if he did.

The defendant was remanded in custody until the hearing on December 24. He must pay £55 in fines and victim surcharge for the drugs offence.
