COMMUNITY leaders are calling on readers to nominate their own Christmas Angel.

The Lancashire Telegraph is searching for the most selfless and compassionate people in our community who really make a difference.

Blackburn Council leader Kate Hollern and town Mayor Salim Mulla are urging people to make their nominations so we can find our most deserving citizen.

The winner will be granted prizes from The Mall Blackburn and Blackburn Market ranging from a £100 Debenham’s voucher to a hamper of the finest fare that Blackburn Market can offer.

In total, no less than 27 different retailers and outlets have donated prizes to make sure that someone truly has a fantastic festive season.

Coun Hollern said: “This is just such a wonderful idea. There are so many deserving people in our community who go unnoticed. I really hope everyone makes sure to nominate the people who deserve this recognition.”

Coun Mulla added: “It is a brilliant way to reach someone who is making a difference. I think when people think of others and not themselves, we should make sure to recognise them.”

To take part complete the nomination form in today's paper and outline in 30 words or fewer why you believe that person deserves to be rewarded. The closing date for nominations, which should be sent to the Telegraph at 1 High Street, Blackburn, BB1 1HT, is Monday, December 16.
