THE new supporters’ bar at Turf Moor is closed for this week’s home fixtures due to Christmas parties.

The Fans’ Bar opened in the Jimmy McIlroy Suite at the start of this season and has proved popular with supporters.

With beer just £2 a pint, it has attracted plenty of Clarets fans before and after matches, with entrance limited to the first 200 supporters to arrive.

But the bar was closed to supporters for last night’s clash with Watford, and will again be shut for Saturday’s home match with Barnsley.

Club officials said the bar was shut because of ‘long standing hospitality commitments’.

Two separate local firms booked the bar for Christmas parties, which includes watching the Clarets as part of their entertainment package for staff.

Despite the bar being closed, supporters were offered the same drinks deals – lager, cider and bitter priced at £2 a pint – in all other home areas inside Turf Moor.

A club spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes.”

The Fans’ Bar is near to the UCFB entrance at Turf Moor, and offers views across the Turf Moor pitch.

The venture was launched by the club at the start of this season, and club bosses said it would re-open to fans for the next home fixture, the Lancashire derby against Blackpool on the last Saturday before Christmas, December 21, from midday.
