A MAN from Padiham was left with leg, back and head injuries after a night out in Burnley town centre.

Police suspect the 25-year-old was attacked some time after 6am on Friday after becoming separated from friends. He remained at Blackburn Royal Hospital in a ‘great deal of pain’ yesterday.

Police investigating the mystery have examined CCTV in an attempt to uncover what happened.

DS Charlie Haynes, of Pennine CID, said: “CCTV last captures the man running down Gas Street before turning right and disappearing from view.

“At this stage he does not appear to be chased by any other person and is not injured. He then appears a short time later on Queens Lancashire Way, walking towards Burnley Crown Court.

"At this stage he is still alone but is now seen on CCTV limping and is clearly injured. He continues to walk around the centre until he eventually is taken home in a taxi. The man remains in a great deal of pain and is being treated at hospital.”
