A RESIDENTS are being warned not to become complacent after a ‘significant drop’ in reported crime last week.

The number of thefts, burglaries, robberies and car crime reported to Lancashire Police in Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley was 71 in the week leading to November 26.

This fell from 93 the week before.

Watch liaison officer Tony Ford said: “I am happy to announce that there has been a significant drop in reported crime this week.

“The crime teams have worked incredibly hard as always and made many arrests resulting in numerous detections for burglary and car crime offences.

“Many of the offenders have been remanded into custody after charge.

“I am sure that adjust-ments to the public’s behaviour has also had a positive impact on the figures.

“No amount of crime is acceptable and we must all resist as much as possible.

“We cannot afford to become complacent.

“There is normally a seasonal rise in crime on the run up to Christmas, so we must all remain careful, switched on and vigilant.”
