Empty Nelson homes to be knocked down in regeneration bid
3:25pm Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
EMPTY homes in Nelson are set to be knocked down in a bid to regenerate part of the Bradley ward.
Councillors on the executive committee approved plans to refurbish one long block of empty housing on Regent Street and to demolish two shorter empty blocks.
The blocks to be demolished will be landscaped over, while developers will be sought for the Regent Street houses.
Coun Tony Greaves said: “If we are looking for a development partner, we want two or three different developers at most, instead of half a dozen developers taking on three or four properties each, with some being left empty.”
It is believed developers who have previously bid for similar housing schemes in Pendle may again be interested.
