North West Air Ambulance Charity asks East Lancashire people to be 'Heli Heroes'
11:20am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
RESIDENTS across Lancashire are being urged to do their bit this month for the heroes of the skies.
The North West Air Ambulance Charity has been funding the life-saving work of air ambulances in the region since 1999, with almost no central government, or lottery, funding.
As it costs in excess of £4.2 million per year to maintain both aircraft, the charity relies on the generosity of supporters.
Fundraisers are asking East Lancashire people to do something heroic during their annual fundraising week, from Monday, September 23, to boost funds, and raise awareness.
Local businesses, groups and individuals can support the charity by taking on brave challenges, or following the social media ‘Heli Hero’ campaign.
Jenny Haskey, head of fundraising at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “There are so many different ways that you can become a hero for the North West Air Ambulance Charity, from taking part in an abseil, to gaining sponsorship for donning a superhero outfit at work!”
