New Nelson nursery has additional costs
3:16pm Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
NURSERY bosses in Nelson have been told that it will cost them up to £8,000 to create a new car park for staff and parents.
Earlier this year, members of the Nelson area committee voted to approve the release of land at Bradley Road East for a car park.
But Julie Bradley, Pendle council’s economic and regeneration manager, has told councillors that the nursery will incur a number of costs before the scheme can go ahead.
In a committee report, she says that applying for planning permission, to change the use of the land, will cost £385.
And if the nursery takes on the car park, the site will be liable for rents in the sum of around £1,000 per year.
Currently the land is covered in ‘tracked-in’ demolition materials and would need to be properly resurfaced, which may cost between £6,000 and £8,000.
The committee is being recommended to ask the nursery, alongside any lease fee for car parking spaces, to meet the oustanding costs.
