Two patients in North West with life-threatening conditions have long wait for ambulance
10:17am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
TWO patients with ‘immediately life-threatening conditions’ waited more than an hour for an ambulance, according to NHS documents for June.
North West Ambulance Service [NWAS] said one of the ‘Red 1’ incidents, which should get a response within eight minutes, was in the Cumbria and Lancashire region, while the other was in Manchester.
NWAS board papers said both calls were initially classed as ‘Green 4’ incidents, which are far less time-critical, but upgraded when further information was obtained. Both patients were taken to hospital and neither incident resulted in death.
