East Lancashire's disabled supported to find work
12:56pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
LANCASHIRE County Council’s employment support service helped 16 more disabled people get jobs in 2012/2013 than the previous year.
In the 12 months to March 31, it assisted 195 people to find work, which is eight per cent up on 2011/2012’s 179.
The service supports people with a disability or mental health needs living in the Lancashire area.
Adult services boss Tony Martin said: “Our employment support service works hard to bring employers and disabled jobseekers together for mutual benefit. This can be through supported part-time work placements which give disabled people a chance to show what they can do, improve their confidence and learn valuable skills.
“On the other hand employers have the chance to recruit loyal, reliable, highly-motivated employees.”
