2:31pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
PRODUCE grown on some of Pendle’s best allotments will be on sale at St Cuthbert’s Community Hall, Burnley, on Bank Holiday Monday.
Reedley Hallows Allotments Association’s annual flower and vegetable show takes place at the Sharp Street venue from 1.30pm.
Former Liberal Democrat councillor Darren Reynolds, who will be opening the show, said: “Keeping an allotment is a fantastic way to make friends, stay fit and healthy and enjoy the outdoors.
“It also helps to connect us with the food that we eat and is spiritually refreshing.
“Everyone will be welcome to see the fruits of local growers' labour.
“Come along, pick up some gardening tips and enjoy a great afternoon out.”
Tomatoes and potatoes will be auctioned off and there will be an auction and raffle starting at 4.30pm, with all proceeds donated to Pendleside Hospice.
