FROM cowboys to witches, there will be something for everyone this weekend as Lancashire’s summer diary gets into full swing.

Ramsbottom will step back in time to the days of outlaw conmen and cattle ranchers for the Wild Wild West Weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, the town’s St Paul’s Gardens will see live action shoot-outs, living history workshops and much more.

After the success of last year’s event, this year’s is bigger and better with shops getting into the pioneer spirit and dressing up encouraged.

Elsewhere, more typically northern pursuits are being held, including a real ale festival, greyhound walk and Pendle witch camp.

Clitheroe Cricket Club is hosting its second beer festival this weekend, starting at 6pm on Friday.

There will be live music from local band, Splashback and 24 different real ales including Clitheroe Cobras 10th anniversary ale, ‘Cobras Ten’. Festivities continue on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm onwards.

The Great British Greyhound Walk is an annual dog-walking event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, other sighthounds and their owners.

Walks take place all over the UK on Sunday to show the public just what wonderful pets greyhounds make. Meet at Witton Country Park car park at 10.30am with your canine companion.

If witchcraft interess you, Pendle Witch Camp sees Wiccan academics leading talks and ceremonies from Friday to Sunday. The camp is a fun festival to mark the summer solstice in a heathen style. Tickets are available from www.pendlewitchcamp.co.uk Thousands of women will be up all night on Saturday, taking part in the East Lancashire Hospice Midnight Walk, which starts at 10pm.

The eight-mile ladies-only starts and ends at the Soccerdome in Guide. A hospice spokesman said: “The streets of Blackburn will see a sea of women and girls of all ages and fitness levels join together to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice.

“The hospice needs to raise £3million each year and relies heavily on donations.”

Weather-wise, forecasters are predicting unsettled periods this weekend with showers becoming heavy and prolonged at times.
