Prince Charles promises to visit Burnley's Weavers' Triangle project

Burnley and Pendle Citizen: Prince Charles Prince Charles

PRINCE Charles has pledged to return to Burnley to monitor progress on one of his favourite personal projects.

The Prince of Wales’ support for the old mills and engine houses of the Weavers’ Triangle stretches back several years.

And the Lancashire Telegraph revealed last year that Charles’s charities are set to have a permanent base in the middle of the former cotton heartland.

Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle was at Clarence House for an MPs’ reception, when the Prince approached him for a discussion about the town.

Mr Birtwistle said: “We talked about the Weavers' Triangle and the town centre and about everything that was being done there.

“We discussed the university technical college, at Victoria Mill, and he said that it sounded very exciting.

“The Prince comes to the town quite regularly, about once a year. He asked about everything that was going on.

“And the Prince said he must come back and have a look at what is being done in Burnley at the moment.”

The Prince has visited Burnley four times in the past six years and last year visited the Weavers’ Triangle with The Queen and Prince Philip as part of her jubilee tour.

Following a canalboat excursion Charles hosted a cultural exchange event between various UK locations, which benefit from the work of his charities, at Victoria Mill.

The Prince also emerged as a self-confessed Clarets fan, after another Clarence House reception, telling Football League Show presenter Manish Bhasin he always looked out for Burnley’s results first.

What a venomous little man you really are. There's a name for people like you, they are called 'Trolls'. Just out of interest, are you a Commie or one of those left-wing extremists by any chance?
