All lanes of the M65 have now been reopened following the death of a woman in the early hours of this morning.
The 18-year-old is believed to have been walking across the motorway when the incident took place.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at junction 10 on the eastbound carriageway, where the woman was in collision with a white sprinter van at around 4am.
The eastbound carriageway was closed to allow accident investigation to carry out their work.
The closure caused tailbacks of around three miles towards Accrington.
The woman has been identified and her family have been informed.
The driver of the van, a 48-year-old man from Burnley was treated at the scene for shock.
Anyone with information is asked to call the road policing unit on 101.
