Two more firms eye up Burnley aerospace park
4:24pm Friday 22nd March 2013 in News
TWO more firms have expressed a strong interest in moving on to Burnley’s emerging aerospace park.
US-owned Kaman Tooling is said to be in advanced talks for a suppliers’ village at the former Michelin site, at Heasandford, as the Telegraph reported earlier this week.
Now, developers Barnfield Construction have confirmed that at least two other companies have made substantial inquiries about the fledgling venture.Aerospace giants Aircelle and Burnley Council are the prime movers behind the suppliers’ hub, funded by a £1.4m Regional Growth Fund allocation.
Plans have been put in to create a new 60,000 sq ft production facility, which Kaman is said to be interested in, subject to final contractual details being finalised.
Tim Webber, Barnfield managing director, said: “We are delighted that, after just three months of marketing the site, we have received three strong leads, with Kaman Tooling Limited set to be the flagship tenants.”
Guy Thomas, managing director of Darwen-based Kaman UK, said: “We continue to negotiate a move to the Michelin site, where the new facility would allow us to invest in machinery, provide security for our existing workforce, and create additional jobs.”
