Drunken man caused a disturbance in Brierfield

A DRUNK who caused a disturbance in Brierfield library has not touched alcohol since, a court was told.

Burnley magistrates heard how Ian Litherland, 49, was later seen by police on Colne Road and refused any help to go home. He was arrested.

Litherland, of Hornby Street, Burnley, who was in breach of a conditional discharge, admitted being drunk and disorderly on Fifth Avenue in the town on February 28. He was fined £35 with £50 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. Geoff Ireland, for Litherland, said he was doing his best to stay off drink.

The defendant, who had had a long-term alcohol problem, had joined the Life Church in Burnley and had been to Inspire for help.
