New system for Burnley Council contractors

BURNLEY Council is changing the way it deals with its list of approved contractors that carry out work for the authority.

At the moment individuals and firms that want to do work for the council are on what is known as the approved list.

Now the council is moving to a national scheme called Constructionline which will take over administration of the approved list on behalf of the authority. Chris Gay, the council’s performance and policy manager, said: “This is about dealing with our contractors in a more efficient way by passing the administration work to Constructionline which will free up officers’ time to carry out other duties. The change means in future they will have to be members of Constructionline but most are already.”

There will be a registration event for contractors wishing to register with Constructionline on April 16 at the town hall. Contact supplierday.constructionline@capita.co.uk to reserve a place.
