Firemen warn boys after water rescue in Burnley

TWO eight-year-old boys had to be helped out of a river near Oxford Road, in Burnley, by fire crews.

The fire service were called after fears the youngsters may be getting into some difficulty.

Fire crews helped the children out and warned them about the dangers of playing in water.

A fire service spokesman said: “When we arrived they seemed to be a little scared and we helped them out of the water.”

The incident happened at around 4pm on Sunday.

Yes, there is a river. It flows down through Towneley and under Oxford Road, next to the old Circulation Club.
