Council considers selling land in Nelson

A GRASSED patch of land owned by Pendle Council could be sold off.

The land in Lonsdale Street, Nelson, which is currently maintained by the council’s parks and recreation service, could be sold to be used as vehicle access for a new business in the area.

Hywel Lebbon, of Pendle Council’s property management company Liberata, said: “A request has been received by the owner of the works to purchase the land to create a separate vehicle access due to the number of vehicles parking near to the existing access on Lonsdale Street.

“The owner is setting up a new business in the premises which may expand in the future, and is in the process of purchasing the privately owned land between Branch Street and the council-owned land.

“The land is currently unused and the proposal would result in the land being brought into use.
