Walk days include Pendle peaks challenge
3:03pm Monday 11th March 2013 in News
A PROGRAMME of walks organised by Pendle Leisure Trust has been announced.
The treks, of various degrees of difficulty, are part of the group’s 2013 Out and About Project.
They include basic navigation courses, aimed at those with little or no map reading experience.
In May and September, the Pendle Three Peaks challenge will see entrants climb Pendle Hill, Weets Hill and Boulsworth Hill – a total of 28 miles – in one day.
In July, a similar one-day event, the West Craven Way in a Day, will take in 24 miles across Pinhaw Beacon and Weets Hill. Also, from May to August, the trust will put on special beginners’ courses in Nordic walking, which uses specially-designed poles and a technique similar to cross-country skiing.
