Catering upgrade for Burnley community groups
5:14pm Friday 8th March 2013 in News
THREE community groups will see their catering facilities improved after a charity fund paid for new equipment.
Healey Wood Community Association, Burnley Wood Luncheon Club, and Coal Clough Lane Community Centre all successfully applied for a grant from the Burnley’s Acorn Fund charity.
They have now been presented with their new equipment, including cookers, and a dishwasher.
The presentations were made by the Mayor of Burnley, councillor Charles Bullas on behalf of the fund trustees.
He said: “These groups play an important role in their communities and it’s a pleasure to be able to support their work.
“Burnley Wood Luncheon Club specifically asked for a dishwasher which will help them as they provide lunches for local residents.”
The Acorn Fund became the responsibility of Burnley Council in 1952. It aims to help sick, poor, needy and elderly residents.
