New home for rabbits abandoned in Pendle

THREE pet rabbits found abandoned in a field have found new homes.

The rabbits were found in a field between Nelson and Trawden last Thursday by Margaret Harrop and her friend Moira Thwaites.

Moira, of Kelswick Drive, Colne, took the rabbits in, but wanted to find them new homes.

Now one male rabbit has been rehomed by a Colne family while the two female rabbits have been taken in by a Langho couple.

Gerard Holden, 50, has rehomed two females with his wife Lindsay, 34. He said: “We saw the story in the paper and we’ve always had rabbits but the last ones died recently.

“They have settled in quite well and are eating well, which is the main thing. They are a little bit timid with people but they seem very happy.”

I hope these are not wild rabbits forced into domestication unknowingly.
