Burnley tyre fitters ordered to quit over noise

THE owners of a tyre-fitting outfit in Burnley have been told to quit their operation by a planning inspector.

Council development control officials issued an enforcement notice against Sarfraz Choudrey last July for using a site in Disraeli Street, authorised for installing car radios, to fit tyres instead.

An appeal was lodged by Mr Choudrey with the Planning Inspectorate, claiming it should be allowed to remain, with restrictions on opening hours.

Residents in nearby Holmby Street claimed that the noise generated by pneumatic equipment and compressor was causing a disturbance.

And planning inspector B S Rogers was convinced that the confined nature of the premises, which could only accommodate two vehicles at any one time, would encourage customers to park on the road nearby.

Mr Rogers dismissed the enforcement appeal, saying it was ‘unduly harmful’ to residents of Disraeli Street and Holmby Street.

But the inspector did allow Mr Choudrey four months, instead of the usual three, to relocate his business elsewhere in the town.

Hardly suprising that the wheel has been banned from Burnley as the devils work of voodoo. Back to riding hogs to get around town.
Blinding

Some people just seem to be able to get away with anything. Why give them 4 months when the norm is 3 months?? Someone's being very good to someone who's making resident's lives a misery. Who matters most..all the residents or one person working illegally from his premises??? This sort of thing happens far too often...Either fit car radios or move ....and give the residents some peace.

I never cease to wonder just how many businesses start off one way then covertly change.

The bus depo at queensgate makes more problems for residents with cars parked everywhere all day long. The nearest house on Disraeli st is a 100 metres away. This guy doesn't work on the street he is always in his building. Leave the guy alone to earn a living.
