Nelson teacher on journey of discovery

A PRIMARY school worker is ready to head to South America to see how schools work there.

Wendy Fryer, a teaching assistant at Marsden Community Primary, Nelson, will visit Uruguay from March 11 to 22.

She said: “I will be visiting schools and educational establishments, including a conference with a special needs institute for 14 to 18-year-olds, and helping at Crandon school which has kindergarten, primary and secondary children.

“I will also be visiting the far north west where many people live in extreme poverty, and taking part in services at a church.

“I hope to gain insights into education from another culture and share this with the staff and children in school.”

Children at Marsden Primary raised £233 to send with Mrs Fryer on her trip.
