OSCAR success is guaranteed for an East Lancashire firm this year – because a staggering 59 films nominated for awards used its equipment.
Sound gurus AMS Neve were involved in box office blockbusters including Skyfall, Life of Pi and Les Misérables .
The company provided mixing desks and amplifiers used to create the movies’ soundtracks.
A clean sweep of nominations in the best original score and best animated film categories mean they are certain to scoop a gong.
They were also involved in five of the seven films in the running for the coveted best picture prize.
Managing director Mark Crabtree said his staff were ‘really proud’ of their work.
Mr Crabtree, who founded AMS in Worsthorne in 1976, said: “It is fair to say rather more people know about us in Hollywood now than they do in Burnley.
“Our congratulations go out to all the exceptional talent winning and being nominated for these glittering prizes.
“All our staff and engineers are really proud and excited to be able to feature in this internationally-recognised arena and to see Britain, and of course Burnley, playing such a dominant part in the creation of these iconic films.”
Although nobody from the company is able to attend Sunday’s ceremony, Mr Crabtree frequently crosses the Atlantic to work with film directors including James Cameron and Sam Mendes.
But he has never been tempted to move his business from its Billington Road base, in Burnley, to Hollywood.
He said: “We’ve never wanted to relocate. This is a great place to live and work. We bring people over from Hollywood and they love it here.
“We’ve got great commuter links with Manchester Airport on our doorstep. We’re a hive of industry here in Burnley with world-class manufacturing and are right on the edge of beautiful countryside.
“We’ve taken some of the biggest names in music down to the local pub for a pie and a pint. They love it here.”
